Hugo was born in what we now know as Neumagen-Dhron, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
Hugo's parents were Johann Kriebs and Anna Charitas Fritsch.
He lived his dying days in New Orleans, LA. He passed September 21, 1776. It is not known where his remains currently reside. But there is a marker bearing his name at the Krebs Cemetery in Pascagoula, MS.
There are currently 10 generations.
Many members of the Krebs Family, Hugo's decendants from his second marriage, moved to counties North of Jackson Co., Mississippi and traded with and married into the Choctaw Indian Nation. After the ratification of the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek, February 25, 1831, by the U.S. Senate, this was the push or "The Trail of Tears" for the the Choctaws to move into the Oklahoma Territory.
Krebs, OK was named to honor Edmond Folsom Krebs, a territorial judge, in 1873.
There are several Krebs Families that came to what we now call the United States. There was Hugo Krebs' line that was started in Mississippi and spread to Alabama, Florida, Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. There was a group of Krebs' that came to New York and spread to Pennsylvania and Ohio. And a Krebs that wandered onto the Texas Coastal Plain of Corpus Christi and spread to West Texas and up towards Oklahoma.
A Krebs Boy has seen action in the War of 1812, the Civil War (CSA), WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, War on Terrorism, the Second Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Krebs Girls have served in WWII and Korea as VA nurses and as members of the WAVES and WACS.
